How Much Money Do You Need to Start Copy-Trading on Bybit?

It is the question almost everyone asks before they start, and the honest answer is: less than you probably think, but the right number is not the same as the minimum. Let us separate the two.
There are two minimums, not one
When people ask how much they need, they are usually mixing up two different floors.
The first is the platform minimum. Bybit sets a baseline amount required to copy a leader at all, and individual leaders can set their own minimum copy amount on top of that. Both are shown on the leader’s profile before you commit, so you always see the real floor for the strategy you are looking at, ours included on our verified Bybit profile.
The second is the practical minimum, the amount that actually lets the strategy work the way it is meant to. That one is usually higher than the platform floor, and it matters more.
Why the platform minimum is not the goal
You can technically start at the floor, but very small balances run into a mechanical problem. Copy-trading mirrors a leader’s positions sized to your balance. If your balance is tiny, some positions round down to amounts too small to open cleanly, and your account ends up tracking the strategy loosely instead of faithfully.
So the floor lets you in the door, but a bit more headroom lets you actually get the strategy you came for. You do not need a large account. You need enough that the sizing has room to breathe.
A sensible way to pick your number
Forget the minimum for a second and work from your own situation instead:
- Start with money you can fully afford to lose. A copied strategy has losing stretches. The right starting amount is one where a drawdown would sting but never hurt your life.
- Give the sizing room to work, comfortably above the leader’s stated minimum rather than right at it.
- Begin smaller than your eventual target. Put in an amount you are comfortable watching for a few weeks, then add once you have seen the strategy behave with your own eyes.
That last point is the one seasoned copiers swear by. Start small, watch it work, then scale. There is no prize for committing everything on day one, and there is real value in trusting what you have seen rather than what you were told.
